The Coronation of His Majesty the King and Her Majesty the Queen Consort will take place on Saturday 6th May 2023. The Service will reflect the Monarch’s role today and look towards the future, while being rooted in long-standing traditions and pageantry.
On this day, SPARK TSL is partnering with NHS Trusts across the UK to switch all 56,000 Hospedia bedside units to free-to-use for patients.
This gesture has been made for previous monumental events i.e. Her Late Majesty’s State Funeral, the Platinum Jubilee weekend, and National Holidays such as the Christmas period.
Leading up to a televised event, many Trusts kindly opt into extending the free TV by an additional 1 or 2 days, funded by themselves or their Charities. For the Coronation, Trusts such as South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust, Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, and East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust, have purchased either the 5th, 7th or 8th of May, so patients can enjoy the free TV offering for longer, and for that we thank them, as we know how much this will mean.
The Coronation Weekend is set to bring many members of the public together as they celebrate with friends and families, including communities across the UK and the Commonwealth.
For a patient, staying in hospital can be a daunting and isolating experience. We believe it’s only fair that patients are given the opportunity to join in with national celebrations from the bedside, as it’s not so possible for them to celebrate from the comfort of their own home or with their loved ones.
Patients having access to entertainment and engagement services such as TV, radio, and games, is proven to boost morale and mental wellbeing. Ultimately contributing towards improving patient experience.
SPARK TSL’s mission is to provide a comprehensive entertainment platform to the NHS which is free to the user by 2024. For this, we need the help of Trusts and Charities.
We are continually grateful to be in a position to work with NHS Trusts to offer free TV to patients during these historic moments and as always, we hope that free TV to patients will become a permanent offering in the future.
SPARK® Media can generate revenue and save hundreds of thousands for Trusts.
